Humphreys wants bounce back

Having lost at home to Bath in the Premiership last weekend, Gloucester's Director of Rugby, David Humphreys, is pleased that his side are at home again on Sunday.

The Cherry and Whites will be taking on Wasps in front of another sell-out crowd, and Humphreys wants his team to embrace being back in front of their own supporters again.

"It's a good thing to be back to home again. Regardless of the result last weekend, which we were all very disappointed about, we still really enjoy playing at Kingsholm.

"I think if the players ever lose that desire to play there, we lose what makes it special being part of Gloucester. We're very much looking forward to getting back out there, to perform and to hopefully win the game," he said.

Wasps kicked off their new era in Coventry with a dominant win over London Irish last weekend, and Humphreys acknowledges that Dai Young's side will come into the game on a high.

"Wasps played really well at the Ricoh, it was a big game for them, they put a huge emphasis on it.

"They're going to be a tough test for us. They've moved a little bit ahead of us in the table, so it's a big challenge for us against a team that we're competing against directly in terms of trying to move up the table," he added.

And, as a former international flyhalf himself, Humphreys recognises the important of Andy Goode to the Wasps team.

"If you look back over the past decade, Andy has been one of the most influential players wherever he has played.

"We've got to keep him quiet, we certainly can't give away as many penalties as we did with George Ford last weekend or he'll punish us on the scoreboard," he stated.
