Saracens sign another Springbok scrumhalf
TRANSFER NEWS: Saracens have bolstered their scrumhalf stocks with another Springbok.
On Thursday, the English club announced that they have signed Francois Hougaard on a three-month deal.
Hougaard was among the 167 players and staff made redundant after Wasps fell into administration in October.
He will now join fellow Springbok scrumhalf Ivan van Zyl at Sarries. Van Zyl joined Saracens from the Bulls ahead of the 2021/22 season
The 34-year-old Hougaard has over 100 appearances in the Premiership as well as 44 caps for South Africa.
He also provides more cover to the wing as a number of backs continue their journey back to action at Saracens.
Hougaard said he is delighted to be heading to North London.
“I am really excited about the opportunity to join Saracens,” said the Bok.
“They are a great club with many fantastic players and I look forward to helping them build on their success over the years.”
Director of Rugby Mark McCall is pleased to welcome the South African to StoneX Stadium.
“Francois is a player with great experience and we are excited to see the impact he can make with us over the coming months.”
