STAT ATTACK: Bok still the Premiership boss

SPOTLIGHT: World Cup-winning Springbok Jasper Wiese continues to raise the bar in England’s Premiership.

Wiese, 28, was named the 2022–23 Premiership Players Association Players’ Player of the Year and looks set for more accolades this season.

Wiese, who came off the bench in the World Cup Final when South Africa beat New Zealand 12-11 at Stade de France in Paris on October 28, remains one of the most productive forwards in the English club game.

For the fifth consecutive round, Tthe Leicester Tigers loose forward made more carries than any other player in Round Nine – 22.

Wiese also beat more defenders than any player has in a single match this season – 13.

Add in his 14 tackles and you begin to understand the significant role he playing in the Tigers’ campaign.

Wiese’s 104 carries places him third in the overall stats this season, while the 27 defenders he beat places him in joint fourth.
