Pollard, who has not been included in South Africa’s 33-man squad due to a calf injury, has returned to his Premiership club Leicester Tigers.

Since the Springboks’ World Cup squad announcement, there has been speculation that the flyhalf could be a late inclusion in the squad.

However, head coach Jacques Nienaber vehemently refuted the rumours, revealing that flyhalf was not injured but “still on his way back” and will continue his return to play phase.

Nonetheless, the rumour mill continued especially given that Pollard travelled with the Springboks to the United Kingdom for their warm-up matches.

He did feature in the fixtures against Wales and New Zealand but was part of the standby list.

On Tuesday, the 29-year-old was photographed at the English club’s training session.

In a video, the star could be seen without heavy strapping and training his spot kicking which is good news as he appears fit for a Springbok call-up.
