Ward cleared on biting charge

Following last weekend's Premiership fixture between Harlequins and Saracens, disciplinary hearings were held for Saracens players Rhys Gill and James Horwill, as well as Ward.

Ward pleaded not guilty to the charge of acts contrary to good sportsmanship, contrary to Law 10.4(m) – for biting an opponent.

The citing was dismissed and he is free to play with immediate effect.

Gill pleaded guilty to the charge of dangerous tackling contrary to Law 10.4(J).

He received a three-week suspension and ordered to pay £500 towards the hearing costs. He

is free to play again on February 2.

Horwill pleaded not guilty to the charge of punching or striking, contrary to Law 10.4(a).

The citing was dismissed and he is free to play with immediate effect.

The Panel was chaired by Julian Morris, with Becky Essex and Stuart Scott as panel members.
