Warriors seek ruthless edge
Despite the loss of captain GJ van Velze before kick-off, the Warriors showed plenty of attacking endeavor in the first 40 minutes, with tries from Chris Pennell, Bryce Heem and a double for Alex Grove wrapping up the bonus-point before the break.
But they were never completely out of sight of their opponents, who also crossed twice before the interval and then moved to within eight points on 49 minutes after Tom Catterick's penalty.
But that would ultimately prove the only score of the second-half as the Warriors moved up to sixth after their second Premiership win of the season.
"I'm fed up of talking about relegation issues as I'm sure Dean Richards is," he said. "We shouldn't be judged on the past but where we are now.
"We have been competitive in all four matches, picking up ten points, and we are frustrated that we don't have more.
"We are a very dangerous side and showed what we can do when everything goes right. I'm not at all surprised that we picked up a bonus point by half-time.
"We didn't attack enough in the second half. We are not used to being in dominant positions and we missed GJ van Velze out there as we lost a bit of leadership. He has been a big figure in recent weeks."
The Falcons had managed four tries in three games going into Saturday afternoon's clash but they crossed the whitewash twice to stay in contact with the Warriors before the break.
Micky Young cancelled out Pennell's opening try before Catterick went over shortly before the interval.
But three Warriors' tries in between for Heem and Grove did the damage, and director of rugby Dean Richards conceded his side needed to tighten up on their defensive work.
"Our defence was woeful. It was all over the place and left us with far too much to claw back," said Richards, whose side finds themselves 12th in the Premiership table and still looking for their first league win of the season.
"We defended well in the second half and won it 3-0 but missed a few try-scoring opportunities.
"Our league position is a fair representation of how we've played so far but it's not reflective of the ability of the side.
"We've had a lot of changes over the past few weeks but we've got to get people singing from the same hymn sheet."
