Wasps' Wallaby centre off to BoP

Bay of Plenty have signed former Wallabies centre Steve Kefu from English club London Wasps for this year’s NPC.

The 31-year-old has played for Wasps in the Premiership for the past two seasons, after moving to England from Top 14 side Castres.

Kefu has a wealth of Super Rugby experience during his eight-year spell with the Reds in Queensland, and will now further his career in New Zealand.

“Steve Kefu will bring experience at the highest level to the Steamers this season, having played six tests for Australia,” Bay of Plenty coach Sean Horan told ONE Sport.

“With the departure of Brett Mather, we were searching for a midfield player who can pass on his vast knowledge and skills, to our younger group of Steamers midfield backs.”

Kefu is the younger brother of former Wallaby No.8 Toutai Kefu.
