Two South Africans included in PREM Team of the Season

AWARDS: The PREM Team of the Season has been officially unveiled, and it features two South Africans.

After an incredible season for Bath, Springbok powerhouse Thomas du Toit has been included in the selection at tighthead prop.

Du Toit has been a colossus in Bath’s pack. He dominated opponents in the scrums and was a powerful ball carrier as well.

One of the highlights of the season came last weekend when he scored a hat-trick of tries in Bath’s 24-22 win over Leicester.

There’s also a South African in the backline in the form of Benhard Janse van Rensburg.

The Bristol Bears midfielder was a hard man to bring down with ball in hand. His strong running kept opposition defences busy, and his performances have earned him an England call-up ahead of the Nations Championship.

Meanwhile, Tom Willis (Saracens) was crowned Player of the Season, while his teammate Noah Caluori  was crowned PREM Breakthrough Player of the Season.

Northampton’s Phil Dowson received the PREM Director of Rugby of the Season award.

The England Men’s Player of the Season went to Joe Heyes (Leicester Tigers).
