Du Preez's surgery successful

Edinburgh No.8 Cornell Du Preez underwent succesful surgery at the Royal Infirmary at the weekend.

This follows after the serious lower leg injury he sustained 26 minutes into last Saturday's win over Dragons.

Du Preez's progress will be monitored over the next few weeks to enable a timeline for recovery to be put together.

Aside from the usual bumps and bruises consistent with such an encounter, there were no further significant injuries from the weekend's game.

Players currently on the injured list are: Carl Bezuidenhout (knee), Wicus Blaauw (knee), Neil Cochrane (hamstring), David Denton (hamstring), Jamie Farndale (knee), Stuart McInally (foot), Fraser McKenzie (knee), Matt Scott (shoulder) and Michael Tait (knee). All are progressing well with their respective recoveries.

Edinburgh begin this season's European Challenge Cup campaign on Friday (October 17) against Bordeaux Begles at Stade Andre-Moga.
