End of the road for Evans at Dragons

Director of Rugby Lyn Jones has confirmed that fullback Dan Evans will not be offered a new Newport Gwent Dragons contract at the end of the season.

Evans’ current contract runs until June and with the recent signing of Wales No.15 Lee Byrne, Jones said the 25-year-old will be let go.

"We've got to think of the future," Jones told the South Wales Argus.

"Dan is a really good player and I am sure he will have no problem picking up a deal with an English or Welsh club in the future.

"That's all I wish, that players move on and do as well as they can.

"I've made a decision that Lee Byrne and Hallam Amos will be our fullbacks next year and I am sticking to that."

Meanwhile, Andrew Coombs, Tom Prydie and Jason Tovey all sustained injuries on the weekend during the Anglo-Welsh clash against Bath.

Skipper Coombs has sustained a broken nose and will be recovering from this injury over the next few weeks.

Prydie and Tovey are both awaiting scans, Tovey for his knee and Prydie for his ankle. Prydie has had an x-ray but to know the full extent of the damage caused he will need a scan.

Both players' scans will take place early this week to determine the full damage of both injuries.
