Evans earns Ospreys a dramatic draw

A share of the spoils means the Welsh side stay seventh in the table, while last year's champions stay eighth – albeit with two games in hand.

Duncan Weir had kicked the Warriors into an early lead before Eli Walker's fine try put the hosts in front.

But Rory Hughes and Gordon Reid scored either side of the interval for the visitors and they looked well placed to hold on for a 20-13 victory.

The Ospreys have only won one of their last nine fixtures with the Warriors but their recent home record has been impressive this season and Sam Davies fed Evans late on for a vital score.

The flyhalf slotted the conversion to level the scores and could even have won it late on but pulled a drop goal attempt wide and the Warriors will head back north with a share of the spoils.

History was on Glasgow's side coming into the clash having won their last five clashes with Welsh regions and they started much the brighter at the Liberty Stadium.

Weir and Hughes combined to good effect early on to win a kickable penalty and the fly-half – who will head to Edinburgh next year – slotted over.Evans earns Ospreys a dramatic draw

And he added a second penalty moments later to make it 6-0 to the visitors and the Ospreys had not really started.

But just one place and one point separated the sides in the table coming into the clash and the Ospreys have been resurgent of late.

Davies' first penalty attempt hit the post but he made amends moments later when the Warriors pulled down a rolling maul to close the gap to 6-3.

Owen Watkin's fine break then continued the Welsh territorial dominance and they grabbed the game's first try not long after.

A slick set piece move from a line-out saw Davies release Walker through the middle and the winger sliced over under the posts.

The conversion put them 10-6 to the good but the game had really sprung to life now and before the half-hour mark the Warriors hit back.

Lee Jones' fantastic break from his own half took him past five Welsh tacklers and when the ball was eventually spread left it was Hughes who collected Leone Nakarawa's offload to dot down.

Weir slotted the conversion and while the Ospreys were unfortunate to lose Sam Underhill to an injury it remained 13-10 at the interval, Weir pushing a long-range penalty wide in first-half stoppage time.

The second half began well for the hosts when Davies chipped over a penalty from right in front to level up proceedings – Nicky Smith's fine work at the breakdown winning the opportunity.

But with the scores level at 13-13 it was the Warriors who again took the initiative and after a prolonged spell of pressure in the Ospreys 22 they finally got their deserved reward – replacement Reid burrowing over from close range.

Weir was spot on with the extras and as the game entered the final quarter both the Scotsman and his opposite man Davies missed penalties, keeping it at a one score game Glasgow leading 20-13.

And with the clock ticking into the final ten minutes the hosts hit back, Davies' fine half break and inside ball releasing full-back Evans for the try, the fly-half spot on with the conversion this time to make it 20-20.

Warriors were stuck in their own half as time ticked down but Davies pulled a drop goal wide from right in front.

A clever kick from Ali Price then put the Warriors in territory before Watkin led a superb breakout. But neither side could find a killer blow and a draw was probably a fair reflection on proceedings.
