Race against time for Bok scrummie
Springbok scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar is in a race against time to be fit for the June Tests after injuring his AC joint playing for his Irish team Ulster.
Pienaar suffered a reoccurrence of the injury and will be sidelined for around six weeks which means that he may be in doubt for the Springboks' first match of the year against a World XV in Cape Town on June 7.
Pienaar has been a regular presence in Springbok coach Heyneke Meyer's squad over the last two years and is seen as second-choice to veteran scrumhalf Fourie du Preez.
There was more bad news on the injury front for Ulster as Ireland hooker Rory Best was also ruled out for six weeks with an ankle sprain whilst All Black prop John Afoa will miss this weekend's clash with Connacht due to a disk injury in his back.
Lock Dan Tuohy has a fractured hand and Roger Wilson sustained a fractured thumb which will rule both of them out until May whilst wing Andrew Trimble suffered concussion in the European Cup game against Saracens.
