Scarlets look to kick-on says Shingler
Having only been on the field for some five minutes Shingler found himself in the spotlight for what was his first involvement in the nail-biting clash at the Parc as Scarlets looked to return to the top of the Pro12 table.
With Connacht leading 18-19 Shingler had to face his demons of his 80th minute missed penalty to steal victory from the jaws of defeat in the Boxing Day derby against the Ospreys.
Steely determination and cool composure saw Shingler land the kick on this occasion but admitted after the game that the missed kick played on his mind.
"I've been in this situation a few times this season. I've had three out of four. I'd probably swap one or two of them for the Ospreys one.
"You have to back your technique. You've probably kicked them a thousand times, it wasn't an easy one but wasn't hard.
"It's been a bit of a funny spell, I've had less game time than I want. I suppose it's my job to take those kicks and it was a crucial one and luckily enough it helped us get the win."
Scarlets victory over Connacht was the region's first since the first in five games and a much needed boost for morale.
Shingler went on to say: "I don't think we've had the rub of the green, both the Ospreys and Blues games were close and it was nice to come out of one of those and clinch the win really.
"We said in the changing room that it probably wasn't our best performance, we played better against the Ospreys and Blues but came away with defeats – it's a funny old game. We're really happy with the four points.
"It's going to be close, every point counts. We have a tough challenge ahead of us against Connacht and it just keeps getting tougher.
"The boys are up for the challenge. We've put a lot of work in to get to this stage, we don't want to let it slip."
Scarlets take on Racing 92 in the European Rugby Champions Cup this Sunday before Welcoming Northampton Saints to the Parc on Saturday, January 23.
