Scottish franchises eye Jones

According to the BBC, the Scottish Rugby Union have enquired about bringing Jones to either Edinburgh or Glasgow Warriors.

Scottish franchises eye JonesJones was born in Scotland and raised in England and has been in Cape Town since 2013. He has 16 caps for Western Province since 2014 and 23 caps for the Stormers since 2015.

Jones has picked up two caps for Scotland this year so far and scored two tries at Murrayfield in the 22-23 defeat to Australia last weekend.

Enquiries have been made regarding a possible transfer fee, paid by Scottish Rugby to Western Province to negotiate the early release of Jones, but the province are believed to be resistant to this route.

The player's agent has reportedly told BBC Scotland his client is "very happy" in South Africa while Scottish Rugby declined to comment.

Jones could miss part of the Stormers' Super Rugby campaign if he is selected in Scotland's Six Nations squad next year.
