Solomons: We've closed the gap
In recent seasons it has been the Warriors who have attracted the headlines with results on the pitch, reaching their first Pro12 Final in 2014 before going one better and lifting the trophy last May.
However this season Solomons men have stolen a march on their rivals and currently sit fourth in the table, four places above Glasgow Warriors, following Saturday's 14-11 win.
It came via Phil Burleigh's late try which helped Edinburgh complete the double over the opponents to retain the 1872 Cup.
And Solomons insisted the result was not a one-off, pointing to the fact his team had been working hard to match their Scottish rivals in recent times.
"I've felt that over the last couple of seasons we've definitely closed the gap," he said.
"We saw that that gap has been closed.
"The players there in the last two minutes were just incredible. They weren't going to lose that game, that's for sure.
"For two weeks in a row, you are not going to peak to the same extent and we always knew we were going to come off a bit, which we did. But their resilience was incredible.
"I think it's about the building of a team and the spirit within that team. It's something we started doing two-and-a-half seasons ago.
"I've always said this team has got the most amazing spirit of any team I've ever been involved with, we've got the most amazing players, and we saw that."
