Strauss gets another captaincy gig
Former Lions captain Josh Strauss will lead out the Glasgow Warriors against the Harlequins in a pre-season match at Scotstoun.
South African prop Rossouw de Klerk is also included among the replacements, along with 22-year-old hooker Fergus Scott, who’s in line to make his first appearance for the club.
Peter Murchie continues where he left off at the end of last season, starting the game at fullback, with Rory Hughes occupying the left wing berth.
Lee Jones starts on the right wing, just a few days after agreeing a new one-year deal with the club.
New signing James Downey makes his Glasgow debut and starts at inside centre, combining with Mark Bennett for the first time in midfield.
Duncan Weir is given the nod at flyhalf, with former Warriors development squad member Murray McConnell starting the game at scrumhalf, after returning to the club in the summer as a full professional.
In the front row Alex Allan has been handed his Glasgow debut at loosehead, while Euan Murray starts his second-spell at the club at tighthead.
Jonny Gray and Leone Nakarawa combine in the second row, with captain Strauss at No.8, alongside James Eddie and Tyrone Holmes in the back-row.
The Warriors have 11 in reserve, including Canadian backs DTH van der Merwe and Connor Braid and Fijian pair Niko Matawalu and Jerry Yanuyanutawa.
