Thomas extends Dragons contract

Newport Dragons are delighted to announce that back row James Thomas has extended his contract with the region.

The back row has previously captained Premiership side, Bedwas, as well as playing for Ebbw Vale and has earned international age-grade honours, whilst playing for Wales Under-18 and captaining the U20 side.

After recovering from two serious knee injuries, the 24-year-old made the move back to regional rugby from premiership rugby and has appeared 14 times for the 'Men of Gwent' this season.

"It feels good to have signed for the Dragons. Its fantastic to have a full-time professional contract with the Dragons meaning that I can now focus on my rugby percent," he said.

"Its great to have a Gwent-born player who succeeds when given chances. He has impressed following a difficult start and has since been selected on merit.

"I look forward to watching him improve over the coming months in becoming a very good regional player," Director of Rugby, Lyn Jones added.
