Warburton released for club duty

British and Irish Lions captain Sam Warburton is one of 10 players who will be released from the Welsh squad for club duty this weekend.

Warburton, his Cardiff Blues teammate Gethin Jenkins, Ospreys players Ryan Bevington, James King, Dan Baker, Dan Biggar, Rhys Webb, Ashley Beck and the Scarlets duo of Samson Lee and Emyr Phillips will all be released and will add some spice to the weekend’s Pro12 action.

Meanwhile, Ospreys duo Ashley Beck and Baker will train with the Wales squad this week.

Beck, 23, won the last of his seven caps against Tonga last November and No.8 Baker made his international debut against Japan last June. They met up with the squad on Tuesday morning.

Medical assessments on Scarlets centre Scott Williams, who injured his right shoulder in the defeat to Ireland, are ongoing and updates will be available in due course.
