Williams cited for punch

Nick Williams, the Ulster No.8, has been cited by an independent citing commissioner for allegedly striking an opponent in the Pro12 match against Cardiff Blues in Belfast last Friday.

Ulster won the match 36-17, after a brace by Louis Ludik helped them resist a second-half fightback from the Blues.

Fullback Ludik scored a try in either half to supplement finishes from Craig Gilroy and Paul Marshall as the hosts picked up what could prove to be a very valuable try bonus point.

Williams has been cited under Law 10.4 (a) – Punching/striking. A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee.
