Cloud of uncertainty over Lambie
Lambie is still unable to train almost two months after being knocked out in a sickening clash with Ireland's South African-born flank Christiaan Stander – during the first Test between the Springboks and the Irish in Cape Town on June 11.
The 25-year-old, who was invited to the Springbok camp in Stellenbosch this week for assessment, is still not able to train.
"He is being monitored on a daily basis and our medical staff are doing everything they can to get him back on the field," a statement from Sharks doctor Alan Kourie said.
"But there is uncertainty about when he will play again."
Stander was red-carded after the incident and served a one-match suspension.
Lambie had been the first choice for the Springboks this year at flyhalf, after injury to Handré Pollard, who has had knee and shoulder surgery.
South Africa called up 19 players for a camp in Stellenbosch this week and will name their squad for his year's Rugby Championship against Argentina, Australia and New Zealand on Saturday.
