BlitzBoks and Fiji set for winner-takes-all clash in New York Final
SVNS SPOTLIGHT: It will all come down to South Africa and Fiji to determine who will be crowned the 2026 HSBC SVNS Series champions, as the two sides go head-to-head in the final round of the season in New York.
The slimmest of margins separates Fiji and South Africa at the top of the men’s standings.
Fiji secured their place in the final with a convincing 28-7 semifinal victory over Australia, while the Blitzboks booked their spot with a hard-fought 14-5 win against Argentina.
South Africa took control early, carrying a 14–0 lead into the break courtesy of tries from Sebastiaan Jobb and Selvyn Davids, both converted by Tristan Leyds.
Argentina started brightly, dominating the early exchanges, but a costly error allowed the Blitzboks to capitalise, with Jobb racing over under the posts.
Just before halftime, Davids added a second try to cap an impressive first-half performance, showcasing his pace and finishing ability to extend South Africa’s advantage.
Argentina came out firing after the restart, with Marcos Moneta crossing in the right corner. However, the missed conversion proved crucial as the Blitzboks maintained their lead.
Fiji and South Africa entered the final regular-season tournament level on 86 log points, with Fiji holding a narrow advantage thanks to a six-point difference.
