BlitzBoks tee up decisive pool clash with Fij
NEWS: The BlitzBoks powered their way into a decisive Pool clash with Fiji after cruising through their opening day fixtures at the Singapore Sevens on Saturday.
South Africa brushed aside Spain 21-14 before producing a dominant second-half display to overwhelm Great Britain 33-12, setting up a familiar showdown with the South Sea giants. It will be the third straight tournament in which the sides meet, with honours currently shared after the Blitzboks edged Fiji on their way to the Cape Town title earlier this season.

Tries from Donavan Don, Zander Reynders, and Shilton van Wyk sealed the win over Spain, while Don again struck early against Great Britain. After briefly trailing 12-5, a slick tap-and-go move saw Ricardo Duartee’s perfectly weighted grubber send Tristan Leyds over to swing momentum South Africa’s way.
From there, the BlitzBoks took full control, with Van Wyk, Ryan Oosthuizen, and Sebastian Jobb crossing in the second half to close out a convincing victory.
Pool honours will be on the line when South Africa face Fiji at 13.46 (CAT, GMT+2).
