France dispose of BlitzBoks in semi
MATCH REPORT: A clinical first-half display from France proved decisive as the BlitzBoks were edged out 12–5 in the Singapore Sevens Cup semi-final on Sunday.
The French struck early through Paulin Riva, who crossed for a converted try in the second minute to hand his side early control.
France doubled their advantage before the break when Simon Desert sliced through the South African defence, with Riva again adding the extras to send the Europeans into half-time with a 12–0 lead.
South Africa responded almost immediately after the restart as Christie Grobbelaar finished in the left corner to finally get the Blitzboks on the scoreboard.

However, despite sustained pressure and multiple attacking forays, the South Africans were unable to force their way through a resolute French defensive line.
Costly errors and France’s composure under pressure ultimately denied the BlitzBoks a place in the final, despite their recent success at the Cape Town Sevens.
France advance to their first Cup final of the season, where they will meet Fiji, while South Africa will contest the bronze medal match against New Zealand.
