BlitzBoks looking to break Wellington drought

The Wellington Sevens is the third stop on the 2015/16 Sevens World Series. Fiji were the Cup winners in the season's opening leg in Dubai before South Africa won the inaugural Cape Town Sevens, which was the second leg in the World Series.

The BlitzBoks may still be high on confidence after that win morale-boosting win in Cape Town, but it will be harder to achieve the same success in Wellington where they have not won the Cup title since 2002.

"In the past we struggled in New Zealand, especially in Wellington, but we want to put that behind us and only focus on the next thing, which is the training session tomorrow," said Springboks Sevens captain Phillip Snyman after the the team's' arrival in New Zealand. "We just want to get the jet lag out of the system and carry on from there – to focus on our processes and doing what we want to achieve over the weekend.

"After almost 24 hours of travelling the guys are in really good spirits and there is a good vibe. The team is really looking forward to it. There is a rich rugby culture in New Zealand so we are looking forward to spending the week in Wellington."

The Wellington Sevens takes place on January 30 and 31. The teams will then move onto Australia for the inaugural Sydney Sevens on February 6 and 7.
