Wellington was a disappointing tournament for them as they finished in seventh place, following victory in Cape Town and a third-place finish in Dubai.

"We had three good results in the pool stages in New Zealand but didn't play to the standard we are capable of when it mattered on Day Two. Our technical accuracy in both attack and defence was not at the level it can be.

"We have worked hard in Sydney and the squad are committed to taking their opportunity..

"We had a number of players who were returning to full fitness and will be better for the game time. The guys have trained well in tough sessions over recent months and we are confident that with more clinical performances, coupled with their strong team-first attitude, this group can make England proud and be back on the podium," Amor said.

England Sevens: Dan Bibby, Tom Bowen, Phil Burgess, Alex Davis, Richard de Carpentier, Ollie Lindsay-Hague, Charlie Hayter, Ruaridh McConnochie, Tom Mitchell (captain), Dan Norton, James Rodwell, Ethan Waddleton.
