Still no contracts for Fiji Sevens stars

Baber and the team have been hard at work with training and warm-up matches, despite none of the players having contracts according to the online newspaper the Ultimate Rugby Sevens.

The contract issue came to light following the Cape Town Sevens when Ben Ryan, the former coach went public that the players were currently playing without contracts. This upset the Fijian Rugby Union who said that it would be down to Baber to fix the issue.

However in an interview with Fiji Village, Baber stated that the "players have not yet received contracts,"

He further went to explain that he is "just trying to make sure that both the players and the Rugby Unions that contract them are both happy with what they are getting,"

The two-day Wellington Sevens tournament happens on January 28 to the 29.
