Jaco Peyper removed from Six Nations match

NEWS: World Rugby has confirmed a change to the match official appointments for the Six Nations 2024 match between Italy and Scotland on March 9.

South African referee Jaco Peyper was given the whistle for that match, but he has now been ruled out with an Achilles injury.

Angus Gardner (Australia) will replace Peyper as referee at the Stadio Olimpico.

Peyper made headlines during last year’s World Cup when he had to be replaced after 16 minutes in the quarterfinal between Wales and Argentina.

At the time, Peyper said he suffered a calf injury.

English referee Karl Dickson replaced the South African official in that match.

The updated appointments for Itay v Scotland on March 9 are:

Assistant referees: Karl Dickson (England), Adam Leal (England)
TMO: Marius van der Westhuizen (South Africa)
