Double blow for battered Scots

Back row forward Johnnie Beattie and wing Sean Lamont will both miss Scotland's final match in the 2014 Six Nations Championship against Wales on Saturday due to injury.

Beattie sustained damage to his right ankle and Lamont injured ligaments in his right knee during their team's heartbreaking 17-19 loss against France at Murrayfield at the weekend.

Scotland team doctor James Robson said: "Both players were scanned at Murrayfield hospital and will be subject to further review on Monday by consultant orthopaedic surgeon Graham Lawson.

"However, they are unavailable for selection this weekend.

"In addition prop Ryan Grant has a hip/abdomen injury which will require further assessment.

"He will undergo MRI imaging Monday."

A further seven Scotland players will be under the care of lead physiotherapist Paul McGinley and his colleague Stephen Mutch over the next 24 to 48 hours as a result of injuries sustained though at this stage none is thought to be serious.
