Williams' fitness in the spotlight
The 24-year-old has not featured for club or country since suffering a reoccurrence of a foot injury in Wales' World Cup clash against Australia in October.
But all eyes will be on the utility back's possible involvement in Scarlets' game at Connacht on Saturday – and then Warren Gatland will make the call on using him on February 7 against Ireland.
Wales skipper Sam Warburton is also likely to feature for Cardiff Blues against Edinburgh as he continues to build fitness following an ankle injury.
"Liam Williams is likely to play for the Scarlets this weekend," Jenkins told the official Six Nations website. "If he comes through that then we'll have discussions about Ireland.
"I'm sure the regions will want some of their players back. We'll see how the next few days go and make an assessment from there.
"[Gatland] will have a discussion with the players and their regions but Liam needs game time and Sam [Warburton] has stated he needs game time."
Williams has spent time at fullback and on the wing for Wales since making his international debut in 2012.
And in the absence of Leigh Halfpenny – who is still recovering from a knee injury – Jenkins admits Williams could play a prominent role at fullback this spring.
"We'd consider Liam as a 15," he added. "He's played exceptionally well for us at fullback and wing. With Leigh being injured I think he'd like to play 15.
"Gareth played well there too and we have Matthew Morgan and Hallam too so we have a lot of options."
