Alaalatoa: Every point counts

The Brumbies are level on points with the Waratahs in the Australian Conference, but the Canberra side leads the way because they have won more games than their Sydney rivals.

Stephen Larkham's men will play the Blues in Auckland next and prop Allan Alaalatoa knows how tough it will be against the three-time champions.

"I watched some of their [Blues] game last week," said Alaalatoa. "They had a strong start to the game, which is something we lacked against Queensland. But we have a lot to take out of our last game and we are just looking forward to the contest in Auckland."

The Brumbies have often struggled against the Blues in the last few seasons, but Alaalatoa said they are not taking note of statistics.

"Not too much has been said about that – we just know that the Blues are in some good form at the moment, especially heading into the backend of the season.

"We just have to worry about ourselves and we are just looking to improve and just looking forward to getting the win in Auckland.

"The tables are so tight now, so every point counts. For us it is going to be a tough game and I think a win is going to be a huge ask.

"First and foremost we have to look at ourselves through review and train well and just leave it for Friday and see how it goes," he added.

Meanwhile, James Dargaville will be looking to cement his place in the team after getting some valuable game time in the last few rounds.

Wallaby wing Joe Tomane is making his way back to full fitness after injuring his knee in April and Dargaville hopes he has done enough to to impress Larkham

"The last four rounds has been really exciting for Nigel [Ah Wong] and myself  – getting a decent opportunity with some game time," said Dargaville.

"Joe Tomane is on the road to recovery and he's not too far, so we just have to keep performing well and I am sure whoever gets the spot at the end of the season, will do a good job."
