Blues' losses part of the preparation
Blues coach John Kirwan is preaching process as the key to performance stating that the Blues winless streak is simply the Auckland-based team setting themselves up.
The Blues are winless in Super Rugby after three games this season, but the coach is adamant they're on the right track.
Kirwan says they want to perform for the fans, but they also can't get too anxious about results.
"We're preparing properly, we've just got to be patient and nail that victory," the coach said.
"But it's about the process and I've been really happy about the process this season and for me we're travelling pretty well."
The Blues play the Lions on Saturday in Auckland with the men from Johannesburg just as desperate to register their first win of the competition.
Meanwhile Keven Mealamu, is set to become the most capped Super Rugby player of all time in their match against the Lions.
Mealamu was rested for the Blues' three losses to start the season and is expected to play his 163rd Super Rugby match on Saturday to pass the former Wallaby lock, Nathan Sharpe, and set the new record.
The 35-year-old says even after 15 years with the Blues he's still got as much passion for the game as he ever had.
"I'm playing with guys that when I was playing my first game were probably about five years old so I think that probably puts it in perspective.
"I think I arrive here with the same energy and the same enthusiasm that they arrive with so I think we're still on a level playing field," he said.
The squad will be confirmed on Thursday with the Blues desperate to get their first win of the season.
