Bok Potgieter back in the kraal
Former Bulls captain and Springbok flank Dewald Potgieter has joined up with his Pretoria teammates following successful negotiations with his Japanese club, Yamaha Jubilo.
Potgieter received the necessary release clearances from his club and will be available to the Bulls immediately for the rest of the regular Super Rugby season, the Blue Bulls announced.
"Dewald will be available to play with immediate effect and till the 11th of July, after which he will have to return to Japan for their pre-season," High Performance Manager, Xander Janse van Rensburg confirmed.
"We would really like to thank Yamaha for their co-operation in this regard and the professional attitude they have shown during our negotiations. It is wonderful to have Dewald back and I know he will contribute tremendously to our campaign," Janse van Rensburg said.
Potgieter has played for the Bulls in 66 Super Rugby matches and has six national caps to his name, he left for Japan in August last year.
Meanwhile, in the Bulls camp there was further good news – from an injury point of view – after a week off.
The Bulls have been given a clean bill of health ahead of their clash against the Sharks at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday. According to team doctor Org Strauss all available players will be able to participate in training on Monday.
This includes Jono Ross (shoulder joint), Jurgen Visser (ankle), Grant Hattingh (ankle) and Jan Serfontein (hamstring) who all had niggles, but benefitted from the bye.
Pierre Spies (bicep), Arno Botha (knee) and Frik Kirsten (neck) remain long-term casualties and will not return to rugby in the next six months.
