Brumbies' Super Rugby future in jeopardy?

After weeks of speculation in the Australian media regarding the future of the Super Rugby competition and its structure, the Brumbies are asking the people of Canberra and the surrounding region to show their commitment to the team.

It has been speculated that the Brumbies could be one of the teams axed in favour of a revamped Super Rugby competition,

Starting with the visit of the Highlanders on Saturday the Brumbies are asking the local community to rally behind the team.

"The team is committed to a long future in this city," CEO Michael Thomson commented. 

"We believe we are more than just a rugby team. We are proud representatives of Canberra and the region on the national and international stage.

"We have had several enquiries regarding the best way to show your support and passion for Brumbies Rugby and the best way to do that is through your action. 

"By turning up to this weekend's match against the Highlanders to cheer the team on, you can help to show what the Brumbies mean to this city."

Brumbies' Super Rugby future in jeopardy?Head coach Stephen Larkham is calling on the Brumbies supporters to get behind their team during this critical stage of the season. 

"We sit on top of the Australian Conference ladder having won both matches against fellow Australian sides this season," Larkham said. "Our victory over the Waratahs in Sydney last weekend showed exactly how strong this group of players are.

"We are heading into this weekend's match full of confidence and would love to see a large crowd at GIO Stadium cheering on the team."

Co-captain Sam Carter echoed Larkham's thoughts ahead of the big match.

"After a fantastic win against the Waratahs we return to Canberra this week aiming to win our third game in succession," Carter commented.

"Your support means a huge amount to us and it would certainly be a huge boost to see a big crowd in the stands ahead of the match against the Highlanders. The people of Canberra and the surrounding have been supportive of rugby for a long time and we appreciate their commitment to the team."
