Brumbies take a hard look at themselves

The team from Canberra enjoy a bye this week after going down 12-18 to the Blues in a disappointing display in front of their home fans.

The Brumbies were unable to score a try in that match and allowed the Blues to score three tries in the process to secure the bonus-point win.

"We put together some good phases in attack and defence, but those little things just hurt you," Brumbies outside back Tom Banks told rugby.com.au.

"He [head coach Stephen Larkham) was harsh on some bits but the thing is, in those contests, it comes down to really little things.

"Errors from players just hurt you and a few of the tries they scored just came off our mistakes."

Banks, who made his first start in the No.15 jersey last weekend, was also not happy with his own performance last weekend.

"There were a few good things but there was also a lot to work on," he said of his own game.

"Reviewing the tape there is a lot of stuff there to improve in attack and defence so I will be looking to address those."

Banks said his team cannot afford too many slip-ups from now until the play-offs.

"We really need to, from now on in, take the wins that we can get and really grind away as we look towards the finals series," Banks said.

The Brumbies are currently at the top of the Australian Conference, five points ahead of the second-placed Waratahs.
