Bulls prop also a pain in the neck

Frik Kirsten has joined fellow Springbok Coenie Oosthuizen on the list of front row forwards with a question mark over his career as a result of a neck injury.

The Bulls on Friday confirmed that the Bok tourists, Kirsten, has been ruled out for the remainder of the Super Rugby season.

The prop suffered a neck injury against the Lions last weekend and following two medical opinions will undergo surgery later this month.

The medical staff believe that Kirsten will be able to resume his career after the operation, but is not expected to play again this year.

Bulls coach Frans Ludeke supports Kirsten's decision to have the operation.

"Injuries are part and parcel of a professional rugby player's career, but I am impressed by the way Frik has handled this set-back," Ludeke said,.

"We wish him well for the operation and a speedy recovery.

"He is a world class player, so we will be keen to have him back in our squad once he is fully recovered."
