Burger backs away from Boks
Burger's Western Province and Stormers career ended on a sour note with a 21-60 defeat at the hands of the Chiefs in a Super Rugby quarterfinal at Newlands and will now link up with fellow South Africans and former Stormers team mates Schalk Brits and Neil de Kock.
When asked about the possibility of continuing to play for the Springboks, Burger said: "For the moment I'm going to Saracens. That's my commitment, so no."
"I have a couple of weeks off and obviously keen to get started at Saracens. I've spent a lot of time at Newlands and it's been a phenomenal journey. It's a new chapter in my life, there's obviously a nice family culture over there," he added.
Burger went on to add that he feels Super Rugby should be simplified and added his thoughts on the current complicated conference system.
"It would be nice if we can have the round robin system back, so maybe get rid the conference system as it was a bit complex to follow this year, even as a player. The key is to keep it simple.
"As players, we want life experiences. we want to go down to Christchurch to play against the Crusaders at night when its freezing. We want to see the New Zealand sides playing here [in Cape Town] and we want to play against everyone.
"It [playing against all teams] is a great challenge as players and keeps you up to speed with what the rest of the teams are doing. Next year [2017] we have a draw against the kiwi teams but then you missing out on the Australian sides. They [NZ teams] are the leaders at the moment but that might not be the case [in 2017]," he added.
