Cheika hearing put on hold

Waratahs coach Michael Cheika's SANZAR Judicial Hearing has been postponed to give his legal team a chance to prepare.

The hearing was supposed to take place on Wednesday, April 16 but has now been moved to Thursday, April 24.

Cheika faces the hearing on the charge of alleged misconduct during his side's match against the Sharks in Durban on March 29.

An application was put forward by Cheika's legal representative to delay proceedings to give them adequate time to prepare.

The application was considered and subsequently granted by Judicial Officer Nigel Hampton QC.

In granting the application Mr Hampton QC acknowledged SANZAR and its witnesses were ready to proceed with the hearing on Wednesday but the primary consideration was to ensure Mr Cheika's legal representative the proper opportunity to prepare the case.

SANZAR is eager to have the matter heard as soon as possible but did not oppose the application.
