Chiefs sweat over captain Cane
Cane took a blow to the head in the first half of his team's 60-21 quarterfinal win against the Stormers at Newlands at the weekend. He would have to go through the standard concussion protocols this week.
"Sam Cane suffered minor concussion and was pretty grumpy that he couldn’t go back on," Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie 
said after the match.
Rennie might also have to start with a new midfield combination again after Stephen Donald had to leave the field during with a shoulder injury as well. The Chiefs lost Seta Tamanivalu to injury before the Stormers match and they are also missing the likes of Charlie Ngatai and Andrew Horrell.
"Stephen Donald took a knock to his shoulder and we are unsure of the extent at the moment. The midfield is a dangerous position for us at the moment," Rennie added.
Meanwhile, flyhalf and co-captain Aaron Cruden praised the youngsters in the squad for their outstanding performances throughout the season so far.
"There was a lot of experienced players leaving New Zealand shores which created a lot of uncertainty. But the amount of young talent coming through never ceases to amaze.
"You look at our squad, there are a lot of guys in their first or second year of Super Rugby and they have really stepped up to the mark.
"It's exciting and invigorating to feed off the energy the younger guys provide," said Cruden.
