Concussion symptoms return for Foley

Foley played his first match of the season against the Melbourne Rebels last Friday after missing the start of the season because of concussion.

However, in the hours after the match, Foley was not feeling too good.

"Again, we have to go back and make sure and say, 'Bernard Foley is our No.1 priority,' and ensure he is right," Waratahs assistant coach Chris Malone told The Sydney Morning Herald.

"When that time comes and he is cleared, as he was last week, then he will be out there playing for us again.

"From a coaching perspective, it's [only] a game at the end of the day. It's not worth risking the rest of someone's life for a game.

"I'm fully confident that, in time, Nard [Foley] will be sweet. And that may well be tomorrow. That may well be the day after that."

Malone insists that the Sydney-based team did nothing wrong by playing him against the Rebels.

"[Chief medical officer] Sharon [Flahive] has been a very thorough doctor here for a long, long time and that speaks volume for the trust the players have in her," Malone added.

"We have to just ensure that he's looked after. There's enough scary articles and different things out there and productions and film around concussion. It's an issue today that it didn't used to be."
