Consistency key for Reds, as Bulls wait
The one time Super Rugby champoins are coming of a nail-biting 28-27 victory over the defending Super Rugby champions, the Highlanders, in Brisbane at the weekend.
According to Reds centre Samu Kerevi the win was a “massive confidence booster for the squad” – after a seven-game winless run – but stated that they have to remain focussed.
The Reds will spend two weeks in South Africa, which will see them face off against the Bulls in Pretoria this coming Saturday and the Stormers a week later.
Despite the boost in self-confidence, Kerevi warned his team that they should not get too carried away with one victory.
He emphasised the importance of consistency when it comes to Super Rugby.
"We want to be consistent every week, and it starts from [the] small preparations.
"It's one game. We're not in a position where we can get too far ahead of ourselves." said Kerevi.
He further stated "attention to detail from each individual player is important going forward."
The inconsistency of each individual player reflects in the team's performance.
The first game will see the Reds take on the Bulls, who occupies the second position on the Africa Conference One table.
Beating the Southern Kings 38-6 in Port Elizabeth at the weekend, the Bulls will not be easy opponents for the man from Australia.
The Reds acknowledge that they should focus and be consistent if the want to save their season.
