'Cool heads' won it for Lions
The Lions were leading 17-15 heading into the final stages of the game before a late try secured a 24-15 victory and a vital bonus point in Perth.
"I am very proud of my team," said Ackermann.
"I am proud of all 23 players. It was a tough game and credit to the Force, they put a lot of pressure on us, but also, we have to compliment the players for keeping cool heads when we were only leading by two points with a few minutes to go.
"They forced the Force into a penalty and then another penalty and then we had the opportunity with the scrum – not just to go for the win, but also to get the bonus point.
"Although it was not a great 80 minutes of rugby, it is still tough to come overseas and get over the travelling and staying away from your home."
Ackermann said the Force were out to prove a point with their Super Rugby survival at stake.
"I spoke to the Force coach afterwards and they are really motivated to make a point in Super Rugby and therefore they really came out to upset us.
"Again, compliments to the players who played under a lot of pressure and prevailed and got the win for us," he said.
The Lions head to Melbourne next to take on the Rebels in Round 11.
"There are bumps and bruises but no serious injuries and hopefully we can get through another week and prepare well for our next challenge in Australia," Ackermann added.
