Cordero: Mistakes cost us

A late Brad Weber try gave the visitors victory in an entertaining game, but it could have been a different result for the home side.

"We played as equals and sometimes even better," said Cordero.

"We need to improve – mistakes cost us tries and we have to take more care when we have the ball and try to finish scoring opportunities."

Flank Juan Manuel Leguizamón echoed his teammate’s sentiments.

"We could have taken this game, but some details and mistakes cost us in the end," said Leguizamón.

"We knew that they would play for 80 minutes. They are a typical New Zealand team and they play like the All Blacks."

Leguizamón said their first Super Rugby match in front of their home fans was an amazing experience.

"It was amazing – the support of the people and the whole environment.

"We enjoyed it very much. It was shame that we could not win to make our fans even happier," he added.

The match was the Jaguares first against New Zealand opposition and wing Emiliano Boffelli said it was a learning curve.

"I think we are continuing to learn and we had a lack of experience to close the game.

"We had set a target to improve and I think we did. Our attack with and without the ball was good, we were aggressive on defence, but we also made mistakes. We have to keep adjusting," said Boffelli.
