Cronje fit for Sharks clash

By
Thursday 11 May 2017

Cronje got concussed in the Kings' 44-3 win over the Melbourne Rebels a fortnight ago. However, he has made a full recovery to lead his team out at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday.

There is just one change to the starting line-up from that Rebels match.

Schalk van der Merwe takes over the No.1 jersey from Justin Forwood, who has been ruled out of action for nine months with a knee injury.

On the bench, Kurt Haupt and Tango Balekile are bracketed at No.16, while Chris Heiberg also comes onto the bench for front row cover.

Lock Lubabalo Mtyanda has also been included on the bench for the clash against his old team.

Southern Kings: 15 Masixole Banda, 14 Wandile Mjekevu, 13 Berton Klaasen, 12 Luzuko Vulindlu, 11 Makazole Mapimpi, 10 Lionel Cronje (captain), 9 Louis Schreuder, 8 Andisa Ntsila, 7 Tyler Paul, 6 Chris Cloete, 5 Wilhelm van der Sluys, 4 Irne Herbst, 3 Ross Geldenhuys, 2 Martin Bezuidenhout, 1 Schalk van der Merwe.

Replacements: 16 Kurt Haupt/Tango Balekile, 17 Chris Heiberg, 18 Dayan van der Westhuizen, 19 Lubabalo Mtyanda, 20 Stefan Willemse, 21 Johan Steyn, 22 Pieter-Steyn de Wet, 23 Nicolaas Hanekom.
