Cruden injury a concern

Cruden injury a concernThe Chiefs will be sweating over the knee injury suffered by All Black flyhalf Aaron Cruden in their emphatic 26-9 Super Rugby victory over the Crusaders on Friday.

Cruden limped off in the 19th minute of the encounter in Christchurch – the victory sending the Chiefs to the top of the standings, for at least 24 hours.

However, it is the No.10's injury that will be the focus in the next few days.

The 26-year-old Cruden, who is in the running for Steve Hansen's All Blacks World Cup squad later this year, received some treatment on the pitch.

However, he could barely put any weight on his left leg and when he tried to change direction while walking, he collapsed on the turf again and was immediately replaced by Andrew Horrell.

It will be a day or two before the full extent of the injury is known, but it is not the first time he has gone down with knee trouble.

He was one of three flyhalves injured during the 2011 World Cup and has had ongoing issues.
