Davids chuffed with defensive effort
The Kings thrashed the Rebels 44-3 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday with Davids' team crossing the whitewash on six occasions.
The win ensured that the Kings made a bit of history as it was their second win in a row after their 26-24 win over the Waratahs in Sydney last weekend.
While the Kings have impressed on attack this season, it was their defence against the Rebels which surprised many.
"Everyone will look at the scoreboard and say that ball in hand we were tremendous, but I think defensively we were actually very good, especially in the first half," Davids told reporters after the match.
"Also for long patches in the second half, the boys defended really well. That contributed towards creating turnovers and creating opportunities for us."
Davids added: "When we got the ball, we did some good things. We still played a lot of the game in our own half. For long periods we were under pressure, but it is good that there are things that we can look back at and say that we can still improve there and we can still become better there.
"I think the boys worked very hard to get this result and that is pleasing."
Despite the convincing win, discipline still remains an issue for the PE-based side.
"Our discipline was really not good. We got to revisit that so that we can concede less penalties.
"We were not happy about that at half-time. We spoke about that and it is something we will definitely work on to improve in our next games," said Davids.
The Kings will enjoy a bye in Round 11 before their next clash against the Sharks in Port Elizabeth.
"There are some very tired bodies in that cloakroom, so I think the break comes at a very good time for us.
"We will take a complete break from rugby and get our mindset ready for our next game against the Sharks," the Kings coach added.
