Don't worry, be Fleckie
SUPER RUGBY SPOTLIGHT: Stormers head coach Robbie Fleck is not too concerned about his future, despite his team’s poor season.
The Cape side head into their final game of the season against the Sharks with just five wins from their 15 games.
It is a poor return from a squad boasting a number of talented players in their ranks and questions have been raised about Fleck’s coaching abilities at this level.
A season review with his bosses lies ahead and he is set to field some difficult questions with his future at stake.
However, at the moment, Fleck doesn’t seem to be worried about it.
“I haven’t spoken to my board, that’s next week’s problem,” said Fleck.
“I haven’t given it any thought whatsoever, I’ve got to play against the Sharks this weekend and that [review] is next week’s problem.
“I don’t know why we even discussing this. I’ve got another year on my contract. I do a review every year and that is next week’s issue.”
The Stormers have fallen well behind some of the other teams in the competition with their abject performances. They have looked predictable on the field of play and there seems to be a lack of quality coaching at their base in Bellville.
“I can’t tell you now off the bat exactly where it has gone wrong. That’s for next week’s focus.
“Right now my most important thing is to get the team as best prepared as possible. The team is motivated to do well this weekend like they have been for every single game. We cannot question the players’ commitment and I won’t question that again this weekend.
“I know we will go out there to do everything we can to get a win,” Fleck added.
