Double blow for 'Canes

Prop Jeff Toomaga-Allen is out for three months after breaking his forearm during the 37-27 win over the Blues, while lock Blade Thomson faces shoulder reconstruction surgery this week.

The loss of those two players is massive blow for the Hurricanes ahead of the crucial clash against the Waratahs this weekend.

The Hurricanes will qualify for the quarterfinals if they beat the Waratahs in Sydney.

Scrumhalf TJ Perenara said they will be able to cope with the latest injury setbacks.

"Injuries come to every team and it's how you deal with it," he said.

"I'm confident in the boys that get brought in and the job that they can do for us."

New Zealand Under-20 lock Isaia Walker-Leawere joins the squad as Thomson's replacement, while a replacement for Toomaga-Allen is yet to be confirmed.
