Experienced All Blacks duo to lead Hurricanes

NEWS: The Hurricanes announced the captaincy for the 2020 Super Rugby season will be shared between TJ Perenara and Dane Coles.

The duo has played 237 games for the Hurricanes collectively and continue to bring a wealth of experience to the team.

Coles has been a team pillar for the last four years, captaining the side since 2016. In his absence, Perenara has shown he is also a natural leader by stepping into the role.

The announcement is certainly good news for Hurrinaces fans after the franchise’s pre-season disruption.

Aside from head coach John Plumtree joining Ian Foster at the All Blacks, the Wellington side also have to deal with the departure of their most decorated player Beauden Barrett to the Blues.

While their All Blacks star Ardie Savea will miss the majority of the season courtesy of a knee injury.

The Hurricanes open their Super Rugby campaign with a trip to Cape Town to face Stormers on February 1.
