Fans berate 'pitiful' Hurricanes
SUPER RUGBY REACTION: Hurricanes fans have shown their outrage on Twitter at their team’s performance after they were comfortably dispatched 8-32 by the Crusaders at the Westpac Stadium on Friday.
Going into the game, both teams were standing at the top end of the Super Rugby table, but the champions Crusaders were looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season against the Waratahs the week before. With the added fact that they have not won in Wellington since 2012, this promised to be a great encounter.
However, the Hurricanes barely showed up, as an error-strewn and ill disciplined performance allowed the Crusaders to earn a bonus point win.
In light of this loss, their second to the Crusaders this season, the fans vented their spleen at the team, with a few All Blacks coming under fire. This is what they said:
With Beauden Barrett’s performance tonight he needs to be benched… if not just kicked out of the team. Richie Mo’unga is a shoe in for the World Cup and tbh I’m glad. The Barrett name is just a brand at this point and not a skill level #HURvCRU

Very odd that the Canes scrum secured a couple of dominant scrum penalties late in the game. They were poor overall though, none more so than the 10 – who will be brilliant again by RWC.

BB was the 16th man for the crusaders tonight. Good win, back on track.

Solidly beaten again! Handling errors under pressure must be addressed. Never played off the park but no room for turnover mistakes when in the company of that caliber… regroup and get back to basics

Awful

Only have themselves to blame for this poor performance. Mistakes leading to Crusaders points.

Too many errors. And way too ill disciplined

How disinterested was Beauden Barrett in today’s game ….. oh are we still not allowed to say anything negative about him?

Star man Beauden Barrett has come under particular scrutiny, as the incumbent All Blacks 10 looked lacklustre and unable to create anything. He threw two costly interceptions, and other passes that did not hit the man.
Up against his All Blacks competitor, and in front of Steve Hansen, Barrett resoundingly lost the battle against Richie Mo’unga, with many fans saying the Crusader is the favourite to start for his country on form.
The Crusaders will continue to sit at the top of the Super Rugby table, and are certainly the team to beat again this season. This was a match that promised a lot, but in the end disappointed many fans.
