Genia could still join Force
The Western Force may get their wish and sign a Genia for 2013.
According to the West Australian newspaper Wallabies star Will Genia's younger brother might fill the gap left when the international super star slipped through their clutches.
Genia's younger brother, Nigel, has moved from Brisbane to Perth and is eying a place in the Force's 2013 roster, after impressing in local club rugby.
A rising scrumhalf for Wests in Queensland's premier grade this season, the 20-year-old has defected to Associates in the West Australian competition.
He starred at flyhalf at the weekend as Associates thrashed Kalamunda 37-5.
The Force believed they had lured Wallabies scrumhalf, Will Genia, to Perth earlier this year with a AU$600,000 a season deal before he produced a backflip to stay with the Reds for closer to AU$400,000.
The 13th-placed Super Rugby franchise still have openings at both scrumhalf and flyhalf for next season and are looking for an experienced playmaker.
Seasoned halves Brett Sheehan and James Stannard come off contract this year and have yet to be offered new deals, while young No.9 Justin Turner remains on their books and utility back Dave Harvey has been re-signed.
The Force also scooped Cheetahs flyhalf Sias Ebersohn, who will head to Perth at the end of the year.
